ASPiRIN

Aspirin is not a steroid. It is an anti-inflammatory drug which is generally prescribed by the doctors and physicians to be used as an antipyretic to reduce fever .Aspirin stands for Acetylsalicylic acid . In certain places, it has been registered under the name of Bayer.

Aspirin is perhaps the most commonly available drugs in the market. These drugs are available in France, Italy, The United States and in most middle eastern and European nations. In addition to the treatment of Migraines and Fever, it is used in the Treatment of Rheumatoid arthritis to reduce the pain in the knee or knee caps. It helps strengthen the bones. In certain places, it is also used for the treatment of heart diseases including in patients with the coronary heart disorders

It was in the year 1971, when the mechanism of Aspirin was found out by Dr John Robert Vane. He was awarded the nobel prize in Biology for his contributions towards the same.

Low dosage of these drugs prevent the formation of thrombaxene. This is similar to paracetamols. It is available in common use as a white crystalline acidic substance with a reasonably low melting point. The adverse effects of the usage of Aspirin include Gastrointestinal side effects. It causes bleeding of the gastro- intestines. Generally the overdose of Aspirin is not fatal althought it may cause severe problems.
